Reorganising energy law – towards a modern codification of energy law (Neuordnung Energierecht – auf dem Weg zu einem Energiegesetzbuch (NeuER))

The current developments in energy law slow down the energy transition. The jungle of paragraphs is getting more complex – and sometimes even more contradictory – from one amendment to the next. At the same time, there are regulatory gaps in important areas. Hence, the Stiftung Umweltenergierecht contributes to solving the structural problems of energy law. Our legal experts develop the framework for a transparent, consistent and future-oriented energy law that enables investments in new business models and ensures legal certainty. The reorganisation of energy law makes the energy transition more controllable and lays the foundation for a goal-oriented further development of energy law. The Stiftung Umweltenergierecht will develop comprehensive proposals by autumn 2021 on how energy law can be made less bureaucratic and more controllable again. These proposals are intended to encourage politicians to tackle the reorganisation in the next legislative period.
