Scenario-based analysis of the requirements for infrastructures in the context of the energy transition and effects on their financing and planning (Szenarienbasierte Analyse der Anforderungen an die Infrastrukturen im Rahmen der Energiewende und Auswirkungen auf deren Finanzierung und Planung (Energieinfrastrukturen))

The Stiftung Umweltenergierecht examines the legal framework for the planning and financing of energy infrastructures. In addition to the electricity sector, the project focuses on e-mobility, the gas and heating sectors, hydrogen, CCS and refineries. All of these infrastructures are facing major challenges as a result of the transformation process of the energy transition. On the one hand, many of the infrastructures are characterised by long planning and realisation periods and are designed for a very long operating life. On the other hand, some developments are hardly foreseeable, especially with regard to energy demand and energy supply. This may result in very different requirements for the energy system infrastructures of the future. Together with a large consortium of research institutions, these requirements for the respective infrastructures are therefore being investigated, procedures and mechanisms for demand planning are being developed, and the need for action and reform options for financing the infrastructures are being evaluated.
