Solar strategy until 2030 [PV Strategy 2030] (Photovoltaik-Strategie bis 2030 [PV-Strategie 2030])

Power generation from solar energy is a central component of the energy transition in Germany. In the future, its expansion will no longer be driven solely by subsidies under the German Renewable Energy Law (EEG 2021). In this project, the opportunities and obstacles of this transformation will be investigated in order to develop conceptual proposals for a strategy of PV expansion until 2030.

Duration: May 2021 – May 2024

Power generation from solar energy is a central component of the energy transition in Germany. Even meeting the current statutory expansion targets of the EEG 2021 (100 GW by 2030) requires dynamic development. This applies all the more if the expansion targets are raised. Various factors in the framework influence this development, e.g. subsidy conditions, market developments, digitalization, importance of self-supply, etc. In the future, PV expansion will no longer be driven solely by the subsidies under the EEG 2021. In this project, the opportunities and obstacles of this transformation will be investigated in order to develop conceptual proposals for a strategy of PV expansion until 2030. For this, special attention will be paid on issues regarding the system integration of photovoltaics and sector coupling.
