Ariadne – Evidence-based assessment for the development of the German energy transition on the way towards climate neutrality (Ariadne) (Evidenzbasiertes Assessment für die Gestaltung der deutschen Energiewende auf dem Weg zur Klimaneutralität (Ariadne))

A successful energy transition is essential for achieving climate neutrality in 2045 in Germany and 2050 in Europe. The Ariadne project aims to shed light on the challenges of this energy transition in detail and to develop robust strategies for political decision-making. Together with over 20 research partners, the Environmental Energy Law Foundation is showing the way through the complex details of the energy transition. It is primarily dedicated to the legal analysis of a variety of issues at the interface of European and German law. The project is funded as part of the Kopernikus research program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and is now in its second funding phase.

Term: September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2026

In its legal research work, the Environmental Energy Law Foundation is dedicated to analyzing selected current and future legal framework conditions for the success of the energy transition and the achievement of climate targets. The focus is on central issues in the energy and climate sector at the interface between European and German law. These include the analysis of the energy market design of the future, the governance of the energy transition and climate protection, the future expansion of renewable energies and the municipal heating transition.
