Maximilian Wimmer has been working as a senior researcher at Stiftung Umweltenergierecht since November 2017. His research focus is European Environmental Energy Law.

Maximilian Wimmer is currently involved in the project “EU-ArchE” in which the new EU legal framework (“architecture”) in the energy sector for the period 2020 to 2030 are examined. Within this project, he is analyzing the proposals submitted by the commission, the council and the parliament for the use of energy from renewable sources.

After graduating in law and completing his legal traineeship and Second State Exam at the Regional Court Nürnberg-Fürth, Maximilian Wimmer was for two years (2015-2017) employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Law at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.  There he worked on “The legal impact of ‘Staatspraxis’” (especially related to international law) both in his doctoral thesis and in a project of the same name by the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung. In addition, he was a lecturer for European Union Law at the Europa-Universität Flensburg.
