Sustainable site management of ground-mounted solar systems (solar thermal and solar PV) (Umweltverträgliche Standortsteuerung von Solar-Freiflächenanlagen (Solarthermie und Photovoltaik))

In order to achieve the climate protection goals, a considerable expansion of ground-mounted solar energy systems (solar thermal and solar PV) is required. The research project contributes to making the necessary expansion as environmentally compatible as possible. For this purpose, criteria for suitable sites will be defined and the possibilities for the spatial control of ground-mounted solar systems in planning will be analysed, evaluated and, if necessary, further developed. The results will be made available in the form of recommendations for action to the overall planning authorities at the regional planning and urban land use level. The focus our work in this project is thus  on the suitability of the current legal framework for directing solar open space projects to areas that are suitable from an ecological point of view.
